Our Trip To Kusel

Well you can't miss it, Kusel is a small town and Burg Lichtenberg sits on the top of a hill looming over the small village. The ruins date back as early as the 11th century, and there are several museums on site. There is also a new hotel that has been built on the outskirts of the ruins, as well as a newer church. We are the kind who prefer to explore things on our own so that is just what we did. Going up to the tower is a must, you will get a great view of the small town and the surrounding countryside. The ruins are really something to be seen, unlike many of the castles in Germany this one is not completely gated off so that you are not able to explore. There are also very few people here, so you are not crowded and are free to roam the entire grounds. The castle ruins were amazing! Everytime I watch my boys enjoying themselves here, I can't help but to think how blessed we are to be in Europe! Some of their friends back in the States will never, ever see the sights that they are getting to see. Ever. Even when they are grown. i'm trying to instill in all three of them(even though Hailey is still so young) just how valuable this time in their life is. I LOVE it here!

Once I get my Liscense to drive here, I have a feeling we are going to be there every Saturday and Sunday. That's how amazing it is here. The best part? These ruins are probably 15 minutes away from post!WOOOO!!!!!
An Early Mothers Day Trip....couldn't have asked for a better time with anyone other then my favorite people! Enjoy the pictures!
