Please Pray for my Zachary

For the past 3 months or so, Zachary has been complaining that "his head hurts". About a month ago, we took him to the hospital on post and the I brought up the possibility of a brain tumor.( my great grandma died from a brain tumor)He told me that if it was a tumor, Zachary would start complaining a lot more frequently about his head.( the pressure would become much more intense on his head)

Well, he has been complaining more. The final straw for me was when I picked him up from daycare and his teacher, Miss Lillian, told me that he has been complaining about his head hurting. It just didn't sit well with me, so I called an made him an appointment to get it checked out.

Today was the day.

He said that many things could cause his head to hurt. It could be stress( with his dad being gone and having a new baby sister), it could be allergies or a tumor. He stressed to me that he thinks its a low possiblity that a tumor is the real cause. He's 50/50 on the whole subject and said that he is slightly concerned that he complains about it in the morning only( which is common in tumors) He told me to keep an eye out for symptoms that include waking up out of a sound sleep saying his head hurts and throwing up out of the blue.

He ordered a CT scan for the 17th.

He told me that if the doctors let me go home on the 17th, then his results are probably normal. However, they will NOT let me leave if they found something abnormal. GREAT> That's both good and bad at the same time.

So now, we sit and wait till the 17th. I told his Daddy on IM just a bit ago and I think he's freaking out a bit. I hope I didn't make a mistake telling him. I couldn't handle it if something happened to him because he was distracted because I told him this now. I feel like I should have waited till the 17th to say something to him. I can't take it back though, so the chips are going to fall where they fall.

Please just say an extra prayer that everything turns out okay for my baby boy!!

I will keep you all updated!

Wow. Sorry to hear that...but I will pray that it is something as simple as allergies!

Oh boy...

This kind of thing is never easy. The waiting is the hardest part. Honestly. Take it from a mother who's "been there" in the strictest sense.

Your doctor's right- they wont let you leave the hospital if any inkling of tumor is spotted. So at least you'll have a good indication pretty quickly that you can rule that out.

You're doing the right thing by bringing him in. Better to be thorough! The chances it's caner are so slim! But I think we know as Mother's when something isn't right with our children. Don't let them try to convince you you're imagining it or blowing it out of proportion! I hope they get to the bottom of it soon now so he can start feeling better!

okay so I am over from Mama bears blog... started reading your story and came to this post. I have suffered with headaches since I was 12. (I know he is a lot younger but think of the stress with daddy gone). I too had a CT scan done, results were I was fine (I saw that post too! I am glad he is okay) but that still does not answer the headaches. They told my mom to take me to the dentist. Sounds silly but I have TMJ (tooth, mouth and jaw syndrome) I grind my teeth and clench my jaw at night when I sleep which results in a severe headache when I wake (or get stressed durring the day). I have worn night guards since that visit (***caution, many many insurances do not cover them. They are pricy but you could even use a sport mouth guard (just trim the top edge so it is not so thick in the mouth or ask the dentist if there are any alternatives). I am not saying this is what is wrong with your son, but it is an avenue worth going down if they persist.
Hope that helps.
Happy day.
by the way, tell your hubby thank you for fighting for our freedom.
