How much do I love mikeys school??

Well, tonight was back to school orientation for Mikey. As planned I brought my camera and fully intended to take some pictures. i didn't however. I was sooo wrapped up in EVERYTHING!!!! Mikey was soo excited to show me his classroom and the learning labs and his pictures he drew....i just am so proud that he is loving school ans isn't "the kid" who hates it and is doing bad. When we first got there, everyone was piled into the gym/cafeteria. They showed a slide show about their reading program and why it was important for the kids to be at school as much as they can. After that, we were all allowed to go to the kids classroom. Mikey hopped right up ans said" I'll lead the way to miss strohmeyers class"( i think he has a lil crush on her) We were the 2nd parents to go in and he immediately showed me the learning lab with the sand. When a few more parents came in, miss strohmeyer went over their daily routine from the time they go in till the time they go home. She also said that they got a new board(which looks like a dry erase board) that she uses like a big classroom computer. The kids can go up and touch the board and it acts like a mouse. they can move things around and it makes noises and stuff. She said that the kids love it.( and i think secretly so does she..lol) We hung around till most of the parents left to ask her how Mikey was doing. She said hes doing GREAT at everything....being nice and getting along with kids, following directions, etc. She said he needs to work on his handwriting but that it was also completely normal at their age to have trouble and that all he needs to do is keep him writing at home. So, that made me feel better because in my opinion, from before he started school till now, hes made major improvement in his writing, so i think its just gonna take some time. After we talked to his teacher and saw his classroom, they provided everyone a dinner.Nothing fancy...a hot dog, bag of chips and koolaid. it was great that they did that, especially considering how many mouths they had to feed!! we hung out and talk with Mikey and he told me he wanted to sleep in the cafeteria.lol. i told him we couldn't and he seemed sad. i told him we'd be back in the morning so he can learn some more. He genuinely seemed thrilled.....and so am i. we just got back and i gave the kids a bath and they are having their quiet time in their room till bedtime (8:30) Somehow I have a feeling they both are going to conk right out....and mama wont be too far behind!!!
