Well, yesterday was Mikey's first day back to school after being kept home last Thursday AND Friday due to his fever. Sunday rolled around and he seemed better. He was up and playing with his brother and running around...and that good stuff. He asked me if he was going to be able to go to school on Monday and i told him that he seemed ok now and that as long as he stayed that way and he had no fever in the morning then he'd be able to go. He was beyond thrilled. So, needless to say, Monday morning rolled around and his fever was 99.5....me knowing that 98.6 was normal felt that since he was acting"back to normal", that he was. I figured he was just shaking off the last of the bug and that's why it was up a bit still. I asked him if he felt good enough to go. Of course, the answer was a big "YES"! Good enough for me. So at 8 am we drove to the school. About 30 minutes before school was over for the day, yup, you guessed it...the school nurse called and said that mikey has a fever of almost 103!!!!!( he hadn't been that high since friday night) I told her we'd be there, I just had to call my husband(he took the van to work) So, i called hima nd about 20 minutes later we were off to get him. We ended up getting to the school at 3:25. Five minutes before school was out for the day!!! We stopped by and swooped Mikey up.We stopped by his classroom and his teacher, Miss Strohmeyer, gave him his homework that he missed the last week. She said that Mikey was the first to get sick in their class, but in another kindergarten class 6 kids (all in the same class) we out sick. That makes me feel a bit better...not that the poor little kids are sick, but that theres a bug going around and its not just my kid whose sick.
We start walking to leave and all the little kids in his class are waving to him and saying bye and to feel better. SOO cute. Anyways, Mikey starts crying once we get to the van.(It was like he was trying to be strong in front of his little friends) Thats when I decided he should probably go to the ER. Michael said he would stay home and watch Zachary(him at the ER for hours would NOT be pretty) while i took Mikey. So off we went. I was fully prepared for hourrrss of sitting and waiting. I was stocked with crackers, jucie boxes and even some mac and cheese from chrf boy-are-dee. When we got there, there was maybe 6-7 people ahead of me. The waiting room wasn't too bad."yes" i thought. "this might not be so bad!" BOY was I wrong!!!! It was 4 pm when we got there and we didn't get called back to see the doctor until 7 pm. If that wasn't bad enough, we waited in the room for and hour before the doctor even came in. Finanlly, finanlly at 8 the doctor came in. His strep test came back negative, so he checked his fever..101.8. The doctor didn't like that it was so high. Then he checked his ears....dun dun dun........he has an ear infection in his little left ear!!! Did he, could he have found the culprit of my baby's fever issues??? Who knows. Only time will tell. He prescribed amoxicillian and motrin and tyelnol. He has to stay home for 2 days per doctors orders. Im thinking he'll be home the rest of the week but if he stays home past wednesday he's going to need a doctors note. I think Im going to call his primary dr today, and make an appointment -just to be on the safe side.
We finanlly ended up getting home at 9:30 pm that night. Whew!!! I was pooped and my poor little doo was too. "get some rest" is the last thing the doctor said to us......and thats just what we did!!
Here's a few pictures i took with my cell phone camera while we were there!

This was like the 3rd time he feel asleep while we were there!Ahh the good ol "fever taker" as Mikey calls it
