Excitement at the ER-Part 2

It seems like I just cannot avoid the waiting room at the ER lately. So, as stated in my last blog about the ER, Mikey has been way sick with a fever and an ear infection. Zachary had the sniffles but no fever. Last night, it seems like that changed in the blink of eye. He was warm all day long and seemed a bit cranky. I expected this. What I did not expect was that he would take a MAJOR turn for the worse around 10:30 pm. We were getting ready for bed and he was BURNING UP! I mean seriously hot. He was sitting on my lap in Lightening McQueen Pjs(which were light summer ones) and my lap literally was hot like if you were to put a bowl of soup on your lap that just came off the stove. Anyways, I got some lukewarm water and a towel and out some cooler water on his belly and head. To my surprise, he didn't protest!

Me, Michael and Zachary headed up to bed.(Mikey was already fast asleep) We decided we'd let Bug sleep in our bed so we could monitor him a bit better. It must have been about 11:30 when I woke up to check on him and he was sooooo hot. I cant even describe it! I asked him if he was ok and here's how the convo. went:

"How you feeling Bug? You ok?"

"scared."

"your scared? why?"

"guy"(pointing to the wall)

ok he's dreaming, i thought. next came:

"pssst.cat.psst"

"wheres the cat Zachary?"

"over there." (pointing to the closet.) There was No cat there..she was outside.

I told Michael I was freaking out. He actually admitted to me that he was freaking out too b/c he was delusional. High fever also could cause seizures and death in young kids....GREAT.....that's all I needed to hear. We decided to go to the ER. I told hubby to stay with him and keep talking to him(still in our bed) because I had to go pee. I went down the hall. By the time I got back ( all of 2 minutes I was gone) Michael told me that he kept pointing and saying "mommy there." (while I was in the B.room) He told Zachary that i was getting dressed and I wasn't there, but he kept insisting I was.

It was the SCARIEST thing I have witnessed my kid do. I was shaking so bad I couldn't stop. Luckily, I had my rock there to calm me down. I dont know what I would have done if he wasn't there..probably freak out wayyy more then I did!!!

We got to the hospital and they took his temperature. 104.5!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. The poor thing literally was burning up. They gave him Motrin and Tylenol one after the other and brought him out a red ice pop(I didn't even know they had those there!lol) We ended up waiting close to 2 hours before we got called back to see the Dr. When we got back there, the Dr. immediately took his temp. and it went down to 101.5...still high but not nearly as bad as before. He checked his throat..Zachary's gland are swollen. He checked Bug's ears and whatta ya know..ear infection. He was acting TONS better by this point. Joking and playing with his rubber glove balloon. The Dr. prescribed him amoxicillian, Motrin and Tylenol. He said that the Tylenol and Motrin will keep his fever to a managable range(aka not delusional state) and that the amoxicillian is an antibiotic for his ear. They sent us on our way.

We got home at 3:30 this morning. Luckily he went to sleep without anymore flare ups. This morning he threw up right after we gave him his 3 medicines....so we decided to give him more and out it in his juice since he wanted to fight us about taking it the first time. He's playing and is okay right now. You can still tell the poor thing is not feeling good. He's whiny and irritable and pale as a ghost( not that he's Mr. Hawaiian Tropic anyways)

Here's a picture of him resting with Daddy when we first got up(at 10:30) this morning.
